/ About the project

Transforming Diptych (2013) brings to life a pair of still life paintings by Justus Juncker from 1765. For this, Rob and Nick Carter worked closely with MPC to digitally recreate the original paintings.

I was responsible for the technical direction of the app, which was designed to run on 2 twinned devices that communicated wirelessly, to seamlessly allow the animations to flow from one painting to the other, as if they were windows into the same room.

The animation sequences were always randomised and never repeated, creating a unique version of the paintings for each viewer.

In addition to being sold to private collectors as works of art, the project was exhibited at 6 different galleries over the years.
